WICKLOW TOURISM ENJOYS ONLINE CHRISTMAS BOOST

Issued 13th January 2010
Wicklow County Tourism enjoyed great
success with its Christmas campaign this winter on the
ever-popular
www.visitwicklow.ie website. The festive feature was
launched in November and was amongst the top ten most
popular pages clicked into by visitors to the website
over November and December.
The Christmas campaign, which has been running for the
past two winters, featured all the best activities,
Santa visits, carol services, concerts, accommodation
deals and more, which took place in the Garden County
over the Christmas period.
The popular visitwicklow.ie website has now firmly
positioned itself as the premier online tourist
information hub for Wicklow and enjoyed 220,000 visits
to its website in 2009, with almost two million pages
viewed over the course of the year.
Wicklow Tourism’s Christmas Competition was extremely
popular with over 400 entries from Ireland and abroad.
Prizes were generously donated by our members, including
Golf Professional Robert Hogan, Johnnie Fox’s,
Barndarrig Driving Range and Kippure Estate amongst
others.
Wicklow County Tourism also promoted Christmas in
Wicklow on Dublin’s Phantom FM, which ran a week long
competition in December, featuring great prizes from our
members, including the Glendalough Hotel, Croneybyrne
Courtyard and the Glenview hotel.
Wicklow Tourism will be working hard with the tourist
trade and partners in the months ahead and aims to
expand its promotional activities.
Over the course of 2010, Wicklow County Tourism will be
promoting a wide range of festivals and events taking
place in the county, including the Wicklow Outdoors
Festival, the Wicklow Adventure Race, Round Ireland
Yacht Race, and of course all the usual popular annual
festivals taking place in the coming months. Wicklow
Tourism will also have regular season and special
features on the www.visitwicklow.ie website, including
Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Summer
Activities.
Wicklow Tourism would like to take this opportunity to
thank its members over the past twelve months for their
support. The organisation would also like to thank
Wicklow County Council for its continued funding and
support and looks forward to working with the tourism
trade in Wicklow in the year ahead.
