RATHDRUM SUMMER FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS AUGUST

The Rathdrum Summer Festival returns this year, with events for all the family taking place from Thursday, 13th August to Sunday, 16th August.

Thursday night starts with the annual fireworks display in the Market Square. Local pubs are holding darts and pool competitions over a number of nights. Other events to look out for are the Hill Crawl, the glamorous grannies and granddad competition to mention just a few.

On Sunday Parnell Athletics club will host the Leinster 10k Road race championship in Avondale House.

A central part of the activity is the second annual Rose of Avondale event on the weekend of 14th & 15th August.

Once again there will be twenty women competing for the title of Rose of Avondale 2009.

On Saturday 15th August the festival takes to the streets of Rathdrum, where busking competitions and entertainment for family will be featured in the Market Square.

The Roses will be in the Market Square throughout the day, so why not come along to meet them.

On Saturday night in Avondale Sports Complex at 8pm the Roses will be interviewed and perhaps perform on stage. The Rose of Avondale 2009 will be crowned and the night will finish with music by Joe Doyle and his band.
