GARDEN COUNTY FEATURES ON RTE'S NATIONWIDE PROGRAMME
Issued 27 June 2008
A special Nationwide programme
dedicated to some of the Garden County’s beautiful
attractions was aired on RTE this month. Wicklow County
Tourism members Russborough House in Blessington and
Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford were amongst the
attractions included as part of the programme. The
programme also paid a visit to a family in Shillelagh,
who are keeping the old craft of wildflower pressing
alive.
This tourist season, Russborough House is holding a
number of events and exhibitions that are well worth a
visit. Included in these are the Alfred Beit collection
of paintings, an open air theatre event and musical
events featuring Celine Byrne, the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet
and eclectic mezzo Liz Ryan.
Meanwhile, Mount Usher Gardens are taking part in this
year’s Wicklow Gardens Festival and are open daily
during the festival from 10.30am to 6pm. These stunning
Robinsonian gardens are filled with a wide variety of
plants, flowers and wildlife this summer.
