MACREDDIN VILLAGE TWINS WITH ITALIAN VILLAGE OF ARMENTO

On Sunday
August 02nd, Macreddin Village was twinned with Armento
Village, from the province of Basilicata in Southern Italy.
A special celebration was organised by the Mayor of Armento and the residents of Armento, the Armentesi,
and took
place in Macreddin Village on the afternoon of Sunday,
August 02nd.
They brought their Italian Farmers market to our
Macreddin Village Market… a fabulous heady mixture of Irish
raw Milk cheeses side by side with an Organic Raw Milk
Buffalo Mozzarella stall, Denis Healy’s Organic Vegetables
across the street from Francesco Canosa making real Pasta,
Jenny and Peter Young's Produce competing with Giuseppe
Solimando making fresh cheese.
Unlike any other twinning that has been done before in
Ireland, this is the perfect twinning of two Villages that
have become totally dependent on each other.
Armento Mayor, Franco Curto presented Macreddin Village
with a plaque to celebrate this. |
