Wicklow County Tourism held an
extremely successful stand at the Dublin and Belfast
Holiday World Shows this month, promoting the Garden
County to thousands of people who turned out over the
two weekends.
As the recession sets in more people are choosing
holidays at home in Ireland, and Wicklow County Tourism
was busy promoting holidaying in Wicklow at its brand
new stand over six days in Dublin and Belfast.
The Belfast Holiday World Show was held in the King’s
Hall from 16th – 18th January and the Dublin Show took
place in the RDS Simmonscourt from 23rd to 25th January
2009.
Over twenty five members of Wicklow County Tourism used
this wonderful opportunity to promote their businesses,
and the county as a whole, to the myriad of visitors to
the shows.
Chairman of Wicklow County Tourism Tom Fortune said, “We
are delighted with the positive response to our stand at
the Dublin and Belfast Holiday World Shows. Our staff
and members were kept busy answering questions, handing
out leaflets and promoting Wicklow to many visitors to
the stand. Events like these are a wonderful way of
exposing a huge volume of potential visitors to the
beauty of our county and the wide variety of activities,
attractions and accommodations on offer.”
He added, “Close to a thousand people entered our
competition, which highlights the public’s great
interest in the county. For anyone who was unable to
attend the Holiday World Shows, but would like to learn
more about our members’ great special offers and plan
their next trip to the Garden County, log onto

This five day event will run from the 5th – 9th February
2009.
