HOST OF FAMILY EVENTS AT CARNEW AGRICULTURAL SHOW 2008

Wicklow County Tourism welcomes the
64th Annual Carnew Agricultural Show, which is taking
place on Saturday, 19th July in Umrigar.
The event kicks off at 11am, which is just half a mile
from Carnew Village. A whole series of events for all
the family will take place during the day, including
livestock competitions, showjumping, crafts, baking and
arts. This year there is also a new Connemara Pony
section, with two All-Ireland Qualifiers.
Another new event, ‘Mackey’s Junior Handling
Competition’ is taking place, with a prize of over €450
for the winner. This competition is open to children
between the ages of twelve and seventeen.
Other events include Tullamore Dew Broodmare, Foal
Championship, All-Ireland Filly Championship and the
Limerick Lady Championship.
For the children, there is a special pets section
including a dog show and other categories for rabbits,
furry pets, birds etc. Meanwhile, the indoor section
includes a series of cooking championships. Other
attractions include bouncy castles, face painting, trade
stands, duck racing, vintage display and refreshments.
