Bray Summerfest is returning this
year for its most exciting event to date. Wicklow County
Tourism is pleased to announce that this unique summer
festival, which has over 100 events, will take place
over six weeks this July and August. The main event will
take place from 16th - 20th July. The thrilling Bray Air
Display takes place on 27th July (practice sessions on
26th) and Bray's Summerfest Funfair will run for three
weeks from Saturday, 19th July to Sunday, 10th August.
Over 60,000 visitors attended the Bray Summerfest
mid-July weekend last year, making it the largest summer
beach-party festival in Ireland.
As part of the festivities, double platinum artist
Munday will perform on Bray’s Seafront Bandstand in
July, as he appears as the opening headline artist at
this year’s Summerfest.
Mundy will perform in front of an anticipated crowd of
15,000 in a free-to-view open-air evening concert on
Wednesday 16th July (9pm). This is Mundy’s second
appearance at Bray Summerfest having previously
performed at the festival’s’ Killruddery Garden Party
Live event. Mundy will be supported by bands Alphastates
and Peakin’ Trippers.
All live music concert events on Bray Summerfest’s
Bandstand Summer Stage, situated on the magnificent Bray
Seafront, are free to the public. Other music highlights
confirmed for Bray Summerfest ’08 include the hottest U2
tribute band on the planet Rattle n Hum (Saturday 19th
July), and a massive Sunday afternoon line-up that
includes Dublin Gospel Choir, Franklin, and current hit
chanteuse Amy, plus Nicolette Street (Sunday 20th July
2008).
The event will be supported by Ireland’s biggest Beach
Funfair (Saturday 19th July – Sunday 10th August), a
four-day Irish and international crafts and food market,
and the return of the Coco-Cola International Beach
Volleyball Tournament (Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th
July). This year also sees the return of the Bray
Summerfest Air Display – now the only free air display
event taking place in Ireland (Sunday 27th July.)
