ANGLERS TAKE TO THE SEA FOR THE 7TH WICKLOW BAY BOAT

This coming Saturday, 28th June,
marks the seventh Wicklow Bay Boat Competition,
presented by the Wicklow Bay Sea Anglers Club.
This year the event includes a whole host of thrilling
events, including the Leinster League, Gold Medal
League, Interprovincial Championship, Shalimar Cup and
most importantly, the Findlater Cup.
The excitement takes place in Wicklow Town on Saturday,
28th June, with anglers from all over Ireland taking
part in this, the biggest event to date.
According to the Wicklow Bay Sea Anglers Club, Wicklow
has proven itself to be an exceptional animal fishing
venue with record-breaking catches in the last few
years, in particular, record numbers of Tope, Dogfish,
Huss, Smooth-hound and several species of Ray.
Most popular baits are Mackarel, Squid, Sand Eel and
Herring. Boats leave the harbour from 9.15am with lines
down from 10am to 4pm. All boats must fish within three
miles of land and within specified boundaries.
Check in takes place at Wicklow Rowing Club, North Pier,
Sea Front, Wicklow Town. Boats will launch from Watson’s
Slip, north Pier. Presentations will take place in the
Leitrim Lounge at 7.30pm.
