FIRST ROSE OF AVONDALE FESTIVAL TO DRAW CROWD TO RATHDRUM!

Wicklow County Tourism is delighted to announced that a brand new festival will be held in Rathdrum this summer, as the first-ever Rose of Avondale Festival 2008 is held. The event, which is organised by the Rathdrum Tidy Town and Rathdrum Senior Citizen committees, will be held on the 15th and 26th August.

The Festival will kick off with a wine reception for the participants and their escorts on Friday, the 15th August at 6pm, hosted by Coillte and Avondale House & Forest Park.

On Saturday, 16th August there will be a street festival between midday and 3pm in Rathdrum, where the Roses will mingle in the town, visit St. Colman’s Hospital and have lunch in the town. On the Saturday evening the Roses and their escorts will be brought to Avondale Sports Complex where the Rose Show will begin at 8pm. The Rose chosen will receive a prize, as will the ‘Best Escort’, as chosen by the Roses themselves.
