TOWN IN BLOOM FOR AUGHRIM FESTIVAL 2008

Ireland’s tidiest town of 2007, the
beautiful village of Aughrim, will hold a spectacular
festival from Thursday, 31st July to Sunday, 3rd August.
As the town attempts to claim the top prize for the
second year running, it will hold the four day event,
showing Aughrim at its very best. There is an exciting
line up of events including the Festival Queen Dance,
angling competition, table quiz and field day.
The full line up of events is as follows:
Thursday, 31st July
9pm – Table Quiz at Joe O’Toole’s
Friday, 1st August
9.30pm – Festival Queen Dance in Pavilion with outdoor
music provided by AJO
Saturday, 2nd August
11 – 4pm – Angling Competition in National Disabled
Angling Facility. The heaviest
fish caught on the day will will the overall prize of a
perpetual trophy. There are two
categories: Senior Competition 18+ and Junior U18.
Admission into the competition is
included in the regular fishing fee.
A race night will be held in Paddy’s on Saturday night
Sunday, 3rd August
2pm – A field day will be held in the community field
with plenty of fun for the family:
Bouncy castle, wheel of fortune, baby show, glamorous
granny competition, guess the name of
the doll, U8 and U10 football matches, races and more. A
raffle for the wendy house will mark the end of the
festival at 5pm.
