ARKLOW MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL CELEBRATES DIVERSITY

Issued 19th May 2008
The 3rd annual Arklow International
Food Festival will be on Sunday 1st June 2008 from 2pm
to 5pm at the Arklow Leisure Centre. Admission is free!
To celebrate our own great diversity in the unity that
is Arklow, we have food and music from many countries.
This Arklow Multi-cultural Association was set up last
June to celebrate and highlight the richness and
diversity of our many cultures living in the Arklow
area. The objective of the group is to enable the people
of Arklow to more fully acknowledge and enjoy the
richness of its many cultures and to have activities
which will embrace these. AMCA will work closely with
other community organisations to improve cultural
activities, to promote understanding, respect and
friendship between all people.
Last years International Food and Cultural Fair, in
association with Cairde le Cheile, proved to be a huge
success with nationalities from Brazil, India, Korea,
South Africa, Turkey, Sweden, Nigeria, Indonesia,
Poland, Lesotho, Ghana, Philippines and Ireland,
showcasing food, dance, music and costumes.
Dignitaries both from the town and various embassies
were present to enjoy the fun and special atmosphere
which the Festival created.
AMCA members invite you to attend this festival to
celebrate the delightful diversity of culture as seen
through the foods of Arklow’s many cultures.
