ARMOURY RESTAURANT - GLENCREE CENTRE FOR RECONCILIATION

The Glencree Valley possesses a rare
stillness and natural beauty that makes it the ideal
location for the Glencree Centre for Peace & reconciliation.
One of the key facilities within the grounds is the very
inviting Armoury Restaurant, Coffee Shop and Craft Centre.
The serene atmosphere of the valley seems to permeate the
warm and relaxed centre, which is perfectly perched
overlooking stunning views of Rural Wicklow.
The Armoury Restaurant has recently launched an extended
Menu designed and prepared by our new Chef Shane Bursey.
Shane brings with him a wealth of knowledge and has worked
in many well-known establishments such as the Kildare &
University Men’s Club, Johnnie Foxes and Kelly’s Lounge. As
well as the ever popular all day breakfast and snack menu
serving homemade scones and muffins Shane has carefully
selected a wide range of lunch and dinner menus to suit all
tastes with ingredients sourced from local producers. And
while enjoying the cuisine why not take in the beautiful
surrounds of the Glencree valley in the outdoor decking area
or just soak up the details of Glencree’s special history as
displayed in the Armoury’s two permanent exhibitions.
The Armoury is open 7 days a week and can cater for up to
100 people for both daytime and evening functions, with
pricing and menus to suit the customer being our speciality.
We cater for small weddings with seating capacity for 55
people on our ground floor area and a further 45 people
upstairs. Special offers are available to all Groups, who
wish to avail of the restaurant for group activities and
outings while at the same time members of the Glencree
Programme team can bring you up to speed on the current
programme events at the Centre for Peace & Reconciliation
making your visit an interesting one. The Restaurant also
has a Wine and Restaurant License and is wheelchair
friendly.
Apart from the restaurant the centre also houses a craft
shop, which holds an array of art, craft and homemade
products and the centre is always on the look out for local
craft suppliers. Plants, hanging baskets and containers for
your garden, patio or veranda may be purchased, as can fresh
garden produce, eggs, homemade bread, and homemade chutneys.
The theme of reconciliation, peace and inclusion are clearly
a part of the shop’s ethos as locally produced high quality
goods created by community groups are supported. A beautiful
selection of vibrantly coloured rugs, scarves and hand woven
items by, Shuttleknit a Travellers group from Wicklow, are
on display while at the same time you will find a display of
bracelets, necklaces and other jewellery hand made in
Palestine and Afghanistan, countries where Glencree
currently has long-term programmes running.
The Centre is an ideal stop off for Coach Tours and visitors
alike where they can indulge in the history of the former
18th century British Army Barracks, enjoy the best of County
Wicklow’s wholesome homemade food at recession prices in a
warm and friendly atmosphere and browse through the craft
shop at your leisure. Special Offers every weekend.
Discounts apply to all Senior Citizens.
