WICKLOW WAY

Wicklow Way

One of the most spectacular walks that Ireland boasts is the extensive Wicklow Way, starting in Dublin and extending as far as Carlow.

This beautiful trail contains an impressive 132km of unspoilt mountainous trails. The Wicklow Way follows a North-South line over the eastern flanks of the Wicklow Mountains.

Hikers begin their discovery of the Wicklow Way in Rathfarnham, Dublin and travel across the Dublin and Wicklow uplands, through southwest Wicklow and end in the Carlow village of Clonegal.

The walk is very extensive and is a beautiful combination of parkland, forests, mountains and countryside. It is a demanding hike, which requires adequate preparation. The average hill-walker will need between eight to ten days to complete the journey. All along the route are dotted top quality B+B accommodations. Remember to Leave No Trace along the way.

There are seven sections of the Wicklow Way in all:

Wicklow Way Trail 1: Marlay Park To Knockree

Wicklow Way Trail 2: Knockree to Roundwood

Wicklow Way Trail 3: Roundwood to Laragh/Glendalough

Wicklow Way Trail 4: Laragh/Glendalough to Glenmalure

Wicklow Way Trail 5: Glenmalure to Moyne

Wicklow Way Trail 6: Moyne to Shillelagh

Wicklow Way Trail 7: Shillelagh to Clonegal
